1. Overview
This policy explains what information the Sea Forager team ("we") processes when providing the mobile app Sea Forager (the "app"), why, how long it is kept, and your rights. We comply with the laws that apply where you live, including the Korean Personal Information Protection Act and the EU GDPR.
2. Information we do not collect
- Accounts, real names, email, phone numbers, contacts — no sign-up or login is required.
- Photos, camera, microphone, precise location — the app does not use camera, gallery, microphone or location (GPS) permissions. For approximate location, see section 4.
3. Information stored only on your device
Your forager level and skills, coins and gear, field guide, foraging journal, co-op reputation, chosen place and day/night, and app settings (view, alerts, etc.) are stored only in device storage and are deleted when you uninstall the app. We do not send them to our servers.
Tide alerts
If you turn on tide alerts, the app computes the tides for your chosen place on your device and schedules local notifications. Nothing is sent to a server for these alerts, and you can turn them off at any time in the app or in your device settings.
4. Information processed and why
| Data | Purpose | Processed by |
|---|---|---|
| App interactions (launches, trip start/end, level-ups, gear purchases, field guide entries, ad reward use and other usage events), diagnostics (app version, errors, performance), app instance ID, device info (model, OS, language), approximate region (IP-based), advertising ID | Usage analytics, app improvement, ad performance measurement | Google Firebase Analytics |
| Device IDs such as the advertising ID, device info, approximate location inferred from IP address, ad interactions | Showing, personalising and measuring ads; managing ad consent | Google AdMob · Google UMP |
| App package name | Fetching the ad settings (which ads are on) at launch | Our server |
Data collected and shared (per Google Play data safety)
- Approximate location — the app never asks for location. Our ad partner (Google AdMob) infers it from your IP address and processes it for advertising.
- Device or other IDs (advertising ID, app instance ID) — collected for analytics and advertising and shared with Google.
- App interactions — collected for analytics and advertising and shared with Google.
- Diagnostics — collected for analytics and shared with Google.
All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
Ads and consent
The app shows Google AdMob ads (banner, interstitial, rewarded and exit-screen ads). Users in the EU, UK and other applicable regions are asked for consent through Google UMP, and the result is also applied to Firebase Analytics' ad-related collection settings. In those regions you can change your choice at any time under "Ad privacy settings" on the forager card in the village, and you can reset or delete your advertising ID or limit personalised ads in your device settings. If you do not consent, non-personalised ads may still be shown, and approximate (IP-based) location may still be used for ad delivery and fraud prevention. Rewarded ads play only when you choose them. See Google's partner sites policy for details.
5. Retention
- On your device: until you uninstall the app
- Our server: ad-settings requests are not stored (routine access logs are kept briefly for security and then deleted).
- Data processed by Google: according to each service's retention policy (Firebase Analytics event data up to 14 months).
6. Sharing, processors and international transfers
We do not sell your information. The data in section 4 is shared with the listed services for advertising and analytics and with no other third party. These services (Google Firebase Analytics, AdMob, UMP) process data under their own policies and may operate outside your country (for example in the United States).
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the age set by local law) and does not knowingly collect their personal information. If we learn that a child's information was collected, we delete it without delay.
8. Your rights and deletion requests
You can delete on-device data by uninstalling the app, change ad consent under "Ad privacy settings" (where applicable), and reset or delete your advertising ID in device settings. We keep no information on our servers that identifies you, but for questions or deletion requests please email us below and we will respond without delay.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page with its effective date.
